There are similarities between price discrimination and differential pricing, and the two terms are frequently used interchangeably, but they aren't the same and there are some great real world examples that help illustrate the differences between the two.

Price discrimination is probably best thought of as one part of a larger differential pricing strategy. As product differentiation is used to distinguish first the larger experience and then the products and services themselves we move away from price discrimination and into the larger world of differential pricing.
